Our beloved Belize has been gaining popularity as a tropical destination, and recently Fox News has done a spotlight on Belize outlining five activities for the ultimate Belize adventurer.
So much more than beaches lined palm trees, there are exciting activities for every kind of traveler. And who can resist this description:
Filled with lush jungles, countless islands and protected wildlife sanctuaries, it’s home to a range of animals that include the tapir, howler monkeys and the elusive jaguar. Not to mention it’s a birders paradise, boasting over 600 species. In addition, it’s a country that offers travelers the opportunity to explore both natural and cultural wonders such as the Belize Barrier Reef and the ancient Maya civilization.

The Caribbean Journal has said in a recent article that “Belize is one of the hottest destinations in the region right now” resulting in travelers flocking to Belize. The boost in tourism is largely attributed to the new flights from multiple airlines and cruise ship passenger arrivals.
While we’re happy to see the new flight paths getting travelers to us quicker and easier, we know that Belize’s attraction is really due to our landscape! So much more than just a beach vacation, Belize is rich in culture with friendly, welcoming locals, jungle for exploration and extensive human history you can witness first hand, just to name a few highlights.

Belize’s Great Blue Hole is a world-famous site, not just as a visual attraction but as a scuba diving destination. But did you know that the depths of it haven’t been mapped out since Jacques-Yves Cousteau exploration of it in 1971?
On December 2nd the Discovery Channel aired a live segment of Cousteau’s grandson, Fabien Cousteau with Richard Branson descending into the Blue Hole in submarines to collect data. They are now wrapping up the two weeks they spent mapping out the giant sinkhole and discovering its bottom.

Whether or not it’s intentionally celebrated, winter solstice is recognized around the world. On a calendar December 21st marks the beginning of the winter season. But more importantly, it marks the beginning of daytime hours becoming longer. After months of shortened days, the extra sunlight is always warmly welcomed!
Here in the “Mundo Maya” (Maya World) winter solstice is especially important. With the sun being a deity and treated as a living being, the tracking of the sun was their way of understanding the universe. Time passing was so much more than counting down to the next vacation, but held religious importance.
We invite you to celebrate like a Mayan by visiting Belize! Not only can we coordinate tours to important Mayan ruins such as Xunantunich and Lamanai so you can learn more about the ancient civilization, but you can celebrate the sun’s return under the Caribbean’s warm rays! Contact us to book your winter solstice getaway.
There are endless reasons to choose Belize for your next holiday, from the friendly locals to the beaches and history hidden in the jungle! International Living has just released an article titled “The 13 Best Places to Visit in Belize” listing our beloved town, San Pedro.
Other attractions include the Blue Hole, Hol Chan, Mexico Rocks, and Xunantunich. The article states that “Although it is a small country, about the size of New Jersey, there is a wealth of “must see” natural resources and wonders,” and we couldn’t agree more!

While we’d like to think that work and vacation exist separately, “bleisure,” meaning business and leisure, is becoming increasingly popular in the travel industry. The reality is that many of us bring work on the road, or travel for business.
In a recent article by Belize Tourism, one of the stated benefits is that bleisure leads to more effective work since downtime is focused on relaxation and enjoyment. They list 6 main reason for choosing Belize for your next bleisure trip:
- Belize is very family friendly with activities geared to all ages
- You can do a lot in little time due to the size of the country
- It is easy to navigate and enjoy Belize as a solo traveler
- Short domestic flights make it simple to attend a conference in Belize City before spending a few days on Ambergris Caye
- Our take-it-easy pace reduces stress involved with conducting business
- Enjoy being immersed in our diverse cultures, so you take home more than the work you completed.
While travel is about exploration and relaxation, we know that convenience is a factor when it comes time to choose a destination. The number of flights, airports, and travel time can affect the length of your stay in a destination, as well as your overall enjoyment!
That is why we are excited to see more and more airlines adding flights to Belize (and within it) so that you can spend less time getting here, and more time soaking up everything we have to offer.
Aeromexico, Mexico’s global airline, announced yesterday that it will begin nonstop service to Belize City beginning on November 17th for the peak travel season. The airline’s Chief Revenue Officer commented, “we are very happy to celebrate this new route… [it is] another sign that we are working to offer better products to our customers, removing barriers between countries, regions, and people.”
In addition to the new flight from Mexico, Tropic Air also added new flights that began on August 1st making travel to Ambergris Caye even easier. There are now 15 daily flights between Belize City and San Pedro as often as every 30 minutes. To view flight times, please visit tropicair.com.
If you’ve been feeling some end of summer blues, we invite you to take advantage of these new flights and come visit us in sunny Belize! For rates and availability, we invite you to contact us.
Belize’s Blue Hole is often listed as a “bucket list” dive adventure. Visible from space, it is truly a stunning natural wonder, and here in San Pedro we’re lucky to be just a boat ride away.
Forbes recently came out with an article listing “The 8 Most Amazing Underwater Caves Around The World” with the Great Blue Hole listed first! Not only are there a series of caverns within it but divers can also see large stalactites and other geological formations. Of course, there is no shortage of marine life to enjoy as well, including nurse sharks, reef sharks, and more.
We are happy to offer the Blue Hole as one of the dives available with Amigos Del Mar dive center, located on the dock right in front of our hotel. Check it off your bucket list and enjoy the boat ride to the Lighthouse Reef Atoll while you’re at it!
Most people think of tropical vacations when the weather at home is cold and dreary. But Belize is a great place to come to in the summer, too.
With average daily temperatures in the high 80s (20s Celsius) there is no shortage of hot, sunny weather for taking advantage of our beaches and water activities. And because tourism is highest in November through April, there are lots of discounted rates for summer travelers. Not to mention popular sights and excursions are way less busy!
Did we mention that summer is arguably the most exciting time in terms of events around San Pedro? Lobster Fest is happening from June 15th to 23rd featuring an abundance of lobster from local vendors, lots of street activity, and finishes off with a huge block party! Other summer events include Dia de San Pedro, Costa Maya, Tres Pescados Slam Tournament, and more.
So what are you waiting for? Come join us for a summer getaway!
